Old OLTP News postings have been added to this Blog under the category ‘On-line Transaction Processing’, they appeared, for the most part, on the main ZOIS web-site. Only postings made post 2005 have appeared here, but there’s more older stuff to be found on an archive page, going back to 1998.
Next Projection: Les Misérables at the Kirkgate. A small review will be posted in due course.
Last Projection: I make and then show the Monday Movie at the Kirkgate. It's I, Anna, a sort of throw-back film-noir with a baffled cop and a femme fetale. This needed a fair amount of belief suspension and some plot-hole ignoring, for it was set in a contemporary London. The main idea was that the primary suspect was a divorcee, who'd actually done it, but suffered a mental block and who meets the investigating officer, and the victim, at Speed Dating. You can see this was going to be a stretch. Both Charlotte Rampling and Gabriel Bryne manage to keep a straight face in all of this, which makes them fine actors.
